Construction Vibration Monitoring

We monitor vibration produced by demolition and construction operations for long-term and short-term projects.

Vibration produced by demolition and construction operations often requires monitoring to prevent damage to existing structures or to ensure comfort for people nearby.
Heavy equipment such as excavators and pile drivers can cause high peak particle velocity (PPV) vibration levels that may damage nearby buildings or cause discomfort to occupants. We are experienced in implementing monitoring standards and can provide monitoring solutions to suit your needs. We monitor vibration during construction operations including:

To supplement our vibration monitoring services, we provide
  • Demolition phase

  • Excavation

  • Pile driving

  • Shoring system installation
  • Need to discuss your project with an acoustical consultant?

We provide either attended or unattended vibration monitoring services to suit the project's monitoring specifications.

      Attended Vibration Monitoring
Vibration monitors will be set up at the required locations at the start of work. A monitoring technician will be present at the site at all times during the vibration-producing activity and can move the monitors as required as work locations change. The technician will keep a log of the vibration producing activities and can provide real-time data to the equipment operators. Our vibration monitors are equipped with wireless alarm beacons that give an instantaneous warning to the machine operators if a preset threshold is exceeded. Typically, the technician will download the logged monitoring data each day and produce a daily monitoring report for the contractor, indicating the causes of any threshold excrescences.

      Unattended Vibration Monitoring
Unattended vibration monitoring is often selected by contractors who do not require real-time vibration information, but need to protect themselves against possible future litigation. Vibration monitors will be set up at the required locations at the start of work and will continuously monitor for the required duration. The vibration monitoring systems can be equipped with wireless alarm beacons that give an instantaneous warning to the machine operators if a preset threshold is exceeded. The logged monitoring data is downloaded periodically during the project and a vibration monitoring report is supplied. On request, a technician can visit the construction site to move the meters or download the monitoring data for review.
